When I contacted you prior to the start of the term regarding remote learning, we believed that it was going to be a week or two week ‘’sprint’’ before fully returning to school. However, we now know this is going to be a ‘’long-distance race’’. For this reason, we are transitioning back to the formula of lessons that we established last year and that served us so successfully then. In addition, we are launching an extra-curricular challenge and activity, which offer further opportunities for creative thinking as well as physical and mental engagement. With these few tweaks and improvements, we now hope to bring you an accessible and seamless programme allowing our pupils to continue to access an optimum level of academics, excellent pastoral care and engagement with some aspects of this term’s activities at Edge Grove.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support, patience and efforts with the sudden move to remote education. We recognise the many challenges that families are facing and hope that we can continue to work collaboratively in the best interests of our children and to ensure a high quality of education continues. I would also like to extend my thanks to the Middle School pupils, in and out of school, who have already shown great resilience, thoughtfulness and a positive attitude in supporting one another and with their online learning.
I completely understand that pupils are really disappointed at not being able to come into school and miss many of the social interactions enormously. We will however do our very best to make this ‘lockdown’ as effective, engaging and interactive as possible in order that your child continues to feel successful, continues to make progress and continues to stay connected to both their teachers and peers. As ever, your child’s tutor and I will be available to respond to any queries or concerns you may have and are always only a phone call or email away. We look forward to working together to ensure that this period is as positive, purposeful and memorable as we possibly can make it.
Kind regards
Kate McManus
