The timetable has been adapted since the first period of CAPP. We have built on our provision from the first offering to increase the amount of lessons delivered live to individual classes to maximise the learning potential of the pupils. Live lessons will be delivered across the school, from Pre-School to Year 8, and the curriculum reflects what the pupils would be learning in school.
Timetables for each class will be posted on that form/class’s Google Classroom. The outline of the timetables for the Pre-School, Pre Prep and Prep are found below. Please refer to the Google Classroom for individual pupil timetables as these vary depending on class and set. Each school day ends with time where pupils, on their own or with their families, can take on one of three challenges set during the week: the Head’s Challenge, Wellbeing Wednesday and Fitness Friday. The intention is that these challenges can be completed as many times as a pupil wants, from the day of the launch up to the following week when a new challenge will be set. However, these activities are not compulsory and the time can be spent otherwise as a family - the important thing is to give pupils time away from their screens after a day of lessons. Even though your child will not be physically attending school, we will expect them to attend our virtual lessons every day as per the timetable that has been supplied. If your child is unwell and is not able to participate in the learning, please email absences@edgegrove.com by 8.30am on each of the days they will be absent. If this email is not received, the form tutor will contact home via email at the earliest opportunity.
All children from Reception to Year 8 are expected to join the morning form time each day. This is a vitally important pastoral time which will allow the form tutors to speak to the children. Pre-School will register during their first session at 9.00am.
Pupils in the Prep School will continue to have weekly PE lessons which will consist of a warm up, a cardio exercise and a weekly skill related exercise. A member of the PE team will be online at the time of your child’s PE lesson to be able to offer any advice that is needed and ensure that the lesson is being completed correctly. Pre Prep pupils will have weekly PE activities and live workshops scheduled on a rotation with other specialist lessons.
The Games Department will be providing all pupils with a weekly challenge to keep pupils and families moving and maintaining their level of fitness. Details of each weekly challenge will be released by the Games Department and records of participation and achievement will be celebrated with the school community.
Personal, social, health, emotional and economic education is a key aspect of pupils’ understanding of themselves and those around them. This lesson has been made a discrete lesson for this period of CAPP and appears on the individual class timetables for the Prep School.
Lessons in the Prep School will continue as normal with the pupils in the Pre Prep having a selection of activities to do each week whilst they adjust to their new live provision for the core subjects. We look forward to continuing to showcase pupils’ talents through rush hour concerts and a virtual art exhibition.
Pupils in the Pre-School will have a minimum of two live lessons a day. These will be during the 9.45am-10.15am and 1.30pm-2.00pm timeslots. There will also be live circle times and a lesson on knowledge and understanding of the world delivered live each week. In addition to the live lessons, pupils will also be provided with optional activities by the Pre-School staff and specialist teachers to complete during the day when they are not in a live lesson.
Pupils in the Pre Prep will start each day with a Google Meet form time before having three live lessons; maths, English and phonics. In addition to the live lessons, pupils will also be provided with optional activities by the year group teaching team and specialist teachers to complete during the day when they are not in a live lesson.
Pupils in Years 3 to 8 will start each day with a Google Meet form time before having five live lessons delivered by their class and specialist teachers. There is a ten minute break built in between live lessons to give pupils the chance to move around, just as they would in school. Each day includes a reading slot for the pupils to read their book (remember to record it in your planners!) and the three afternoon challenges are designed to run across the whole week. The House activities will also provide creative opportunities for pupils in the evenings and weekends.
