Thank you to 4M for a very relevant assembly on resilience linking Edge Grove Behaviours for Learning into it. The children did so well!
This week, there has been a whole-school focus on the children’s well-being. During the assembly, discussion was had around the importance of being aware of other children’s feelings, culminating with ‘Inside Out Day’ to highlight that people do not always show how they are feeling on the outside. In science, the children have continued to explore the bones and organs of the body and have created leaflets in English about one of the main organs. The children enjoyed gathering data in maths then using the data to create a pictogram. In topic, they have continued to explore life in Ancient Egypt with a focus on the hierarchical system. Year 3 would like to thank Dr Sadarangani for the very interactive and information lesson that concluded our English focus of writing explanation text about organs in the body. We especially loved the organ apron which she has kindly donated to lower school.
For year 4, the creative juices were flowing in English classes as the children started their new fantasy text unit. Pupils selected their favourite dragon character from the ‘How to train your dragon’ books and then explained in very creative ways just how they would catch it! In topic year 4 continued learning about the Anglo-Saxon and Vikings. They even tried their hand as journalists by creating their own ‘Anglo-Saxon Chronicle’ to report on the Viking invasion at Lindisfarne. The children particularly enjoyed researching Viking longships and learning just how savage the Viking raids really were! In maths lessons the children explored shape and identified triangles using their measurement skills. Can your child remember the various triangles and their varying properties? Year 4 also learnt valuable knife skills to make a crunchy, healthy salad. The children were using a range of grips in order to prepare vegetables safely.
