Baccalaureate
The year 8s enjoyed a really interesting introduction to anger management this week. This workshop, facilitated by E-Cube, focused on strategies we can all use to support the management of frustration and stress. The session incorporated stories, scenarios and role-play which allowed the pupils to discuss a range of viewpoints. It ended with a relaxing meditation session - the atmosphere was very calm indeed!
French
In class this week, year 7 have been discussing holidays. They have practised asking and answering questions about ‘les vacances’, and have talked about adventure and holiday disasters and have now begun to use the perfect tense to describe past events.
Creative Arts - Stage Design and Costume
Year 7 and 8 have been looking at different aspects of theatre and in particular Greek theatre and how it has influenced modern day theatre. Children have created a detailed, labelled diagram illustrating the main features of a classical theatre and stage. In the Textiles elective class, the pupils have been continuing with their paper weaving project and are learning how to prepare the loom for weaving.
History
The year 8s have been busy completing their assessments and have now moved on to heraldry and have been creating their own unique coats of arms. Meanwhile, the year 7 classes have been exploring the causes of the American War of Independence and in particular ‘the shot that was heard around the world’ that really began it all. Who fired first is the question?
