The current situation and enforced lockdown has affected us all in different ways but never has it been more important to look for the positives and be appreciative for everything we have. As a school and staff team, we have had a number of difficult decisions to make and worked extraordinarily hard to ensure we continue to offer the standard of education to our pupils of which we can be proud and that you would expect from us. The positive and appreciative messages from you all have been overwhelming, reassuring and extremely motivating. This has also been true of the many emails, photographs and videos we receive every day keeping us updated with everything your children are doing at home. Please keep these coming! It is clear that all our Edge Grove families are embracing the opportunity to spend more time together, explore surrounding and often undiscovered local areas, learn new skills (such as cake making!) and enjoy the space to pause, think and interact. It has been a time of adaptation to a different pace of life, assessment of priorities, exploration and creativity in its widest sense. Amidst the tragedy, suffering and sacrifice it is important to be thankful and appreciative; we are certainly very grateful that you are sharing your experiences, fun and laughter with us.
Following the Prime Minister’s briefing last night, we await further details from the Government on the phased reopening of schools from after half term and will put the necessary measures in place. Above all, our priority will be to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and parents whilst on site and planning is already well underway. As soon as we are in a position to finalise arrangements, I will be in touch.
Don’t forget that our Guiding Principle this week is: Global and Local Responsibility and that Mrs Sharp has updated the daily Flourish focuses which can be found on The Source.
Best wishes
Ben Evans
