This year I am looking forward to teaching across the school, taking on two or three lessons each week in different year groups and subjects. So far, I have enjoyed Year 8 maths, Year 4 Spanish, Year 6 maths and English and Year 5 Music. Even if I say so myself, the standard of my drum lesson was particularly impressive and I know that Mr Leutfeld can’t wait to let me loose on an assembly performance! In all seriousness, this is an excellent opportunity for me to be learning in action across the school, to assess the quality and continuity of our provision and, above all, to get to know all of the children as individuals. After half term, the Reception classes will meet my fabulous languages assistant (of the puppet variety), Rosa, as we embark on Spanish lessons.
I am also delighted to finally be able to get out and about to various senior schools over the coming weeks and months to continue to cultivate relationships with them and to be able to get a real sense of what they have to offer prospective pupils from Edge Grove. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Kathryn Gorman from Abbot’s Hill and have visits arranged to St Albans High School for Girls and Queenswood in the coming weeks.
