I will be writing to you later in the week to outline the adaptations we have made this term since school re-opened. A lot is going on behind the scenes and our decisions are always based on balancing best practice with a proper assessment of risk. Moving forward, and in the light of the current state of play across the country, it would be foolhardy to make any significant changes to our current routines for next half term. Our priority must be to keep the school open; suffice to say, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and make adjustments as soon as we are able. A parent survey will also accompany the letter and I would appreciate your feedback as we look ahead to the next few months.
I must take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work and resilience since we came back to school in September. It really does take a village and, in our case, every single member of the Edge Grove community has had a vital role to play in keeping the school in session; from the Estates team, to the caterers, to the Bursarial department, the nurses, the domestic and support staff and, of course, the teachers.
Having now met almost every staff member on a one-to-one basis, one of my priorities during next half term is to spend time in classrooms throughout the school. It is an important way of getting to know the children and to help frame my thinking as we look ahead to the development of teaching and learning across the school. If you’d like to keep track of what I’m doing with the children, please follow the Head’s Instagram account @the_heads_desk.
I hope you have a wonderful break and I look forward to seeing you next half term.
