Art
We have received our results from the Royal Academy of Art, Young Artists’ Summer Show. Unfortunately, on this occasion, none of our submissions were chosen. There are always hundreds of entries so it is not surprising but we will try again next year! Well done to all of those who applied.
In year 3, the children have started their final pieces for their sun symbols. They learnt a new technique of paint style to create the background and next week they will be adding detail.
The year 4 children are exploring effective use of oil pastels for their final pieces. They have designed Normal Conquest flags and have applied their understanding of how a pattern on a 3D object can be interpreted on a 2D image.
The Pop Art project in Year 5 is progressing very well. The children have all composed their final pieces in pencil and are now choosing their colour palettes.
Working in monochrome, the Year 6s are developing their Optical Illusion artworks in a variety of different ways. They have had to practice measuring distances with millimetre precision and add tone using very fine motor control.
The Year 7 and 8 art electives are learning how to apply theatrical makeup professionally. They have drawn on paper the way makeup is applied to represent a basic human face, defining contours and opening the eyes. They have also started looking into the way animal features are represented with theatrical makeup.
