It feels like I have been talking incessantly over the last few days about how successful our return to school last week was! Nonetheless, I shall say again how much the tremendous school spirit at Edge Grove carried us boldly through those first few challenging days. We are mindful, as ever, of the pressures at home as we ease back into routines and we thank you once again for your continued support in getting these established.
Despite the intensity with which we, parents and staff, are all working to get things back to the new normal, I am utterly thrilled to finally be in situ at Edge Grove and I am reminded daily, especially given the weather over the past few days, of what a glorious learning environment this is. I am delighted to have had my new Sainsbury’s wellies on (please note wellies are available for purchase at other locations) within the first couple of days and to have been able to join different year groups as they took advantage of the opportunities for learning outdoors.
We continue to keep a close eye on the emerging health situation locally and we are aware that some other schools have had to close year group bubbles in response to positive COVID-19 cases within their communities. Whilst we hope that we won’t have to, we are ready to respond quickly to a scenario in school and have systems in place to ensure that we can efficiently identify those impacted and take the appropriate action. As we learn from the recent experiences of our local colleagues, we are in the process of putting together a flowchart of procedures for parents, including key contact numbers, should you need to inform us of a situation outside of school hours.
I do hope to see many of you at my introductory Zoom meetings which will be held this week and next. You will shortly receive an invitation via email but please note that if you have children in different phases of the school you only need to join one meeting. I regret that we can’t do these in person but I am hoping that socially distanced interaction in person is not too far away. Have a great week.
Best wishes, Lisa McDonald
