The world is a strange and unusual place at the moment but the start of a new school year has some elements that will never change. Shiny new shoes and huge smiles coupled with a few tummy butterflies (including amongst the staff!), were reassuringly present and I am delighted to report that the familiar buzz of purposeful learning in action can be heard throughout the Pre Prep. We are delighted to have our hens back too and I am pleased to say that they are laying eggs already. They have spent the summer on holiday with Mrs Green and have clearly had a settled and happy time. For Reception and Pre-School, this first week has been all about familiarisation; we need to get to know each other and explore our wonderful school. Year 1 have made an excellent start and are trail blazing new routines with resilience. Year 2 have delved into their new topic ‘Magnificent Stories’ with enthusiasm. Inspired by The Twits by Roald Dahl, they have begun role playing key scenes and describing the characters, delighted by the very unpleasant habits and appearance of Mr and Mrs Twit themselves. My year group assemblies have focused on the theme of being kind to each other and I am pleased to have seen this in action already - what a fantastic start Pre Prep!
