The theme of this year’s Anti-Bullying week is ‘one kind word’. If the isolation of the last 18 months has taught us anything it is how words and small acts of kindness and consideration can make a positive difference to those around us. Kindness is one of our core school values and we will bring this to the forefront of the agenda this week as we address the importance of ‘one kind word’.
We had a wonderful afternoon on Saturday at the official opening of the Apthorp Building when we welcomed John Apthorp and his family, many of our generous donors, as well as Governors past and present. A stunning performance by the Year 4 choir and alumna Chelsea Becker, a student at the Royal College of Music, made the afternoon extra special.
The Apthorp Building was also the venue for our whole school Remembrance Service last Thursday which was a fine and fitting tribute to all members of our Armed Forces but also to the ten former pupils of Edge Grove who died fighting in two World Wars. We honour and remember:
