In Music this week, Thomas in year 2 has been learning all about body percussion and has been experimenting what kind of sounds you can make just by using your body. He produced a fantastic body percussion performance. Please watch!
Amara in year 3 has learnt all about how Trombones make a sound and her task was to make her own. A great video Amara, and a fantastic sound there as well! A Trombone player in the making!
Since January Sofia in year 3 has been learning the French horn. It was brass week this week in her music lesson, so she performed a piece of music for us all on her French horn. What an excellent sound! Clearly Sofia has been practising a lot during the lockdown. Really looking forward to hearing from you again soon!
Bella in Pre-School celebrated VE day with her beautiful rendition of ‘We’ll meet again.’ A lovely performance, and an amazing voice! A must watch.
Josh in year 1 has been learning a song all about the month of May and went out for a walk to find examples of Spring turning to Summer. What a fantastic picture of May!
Jamie in year 4 has been making his own Brass instruments at home out of recycling. Year 4 have also been learning how to create a buzz noise with their lips to produce a brassy sound. Well done Jamie!
All the music videos can be viewed here (please note that you will need to be logged in with an Edge Grove email account to access this folder).
In Drama this week, year 3 have been incredibly busy creating a play about being stuck on a desert island. They have already created the three characters and have also spent time developing the voices for their characters. All the pupils have all worked amazingly well and created some outstanding work in their lessons so far.
Year 4 have been performing their monologues they wrote last week about meeting an alien. They were asked to specifically focus on their facial expression, body language and using their voices to convey emotion.
Year 5 continue to work on their clown performances and comic timing. They have taken ordinary every day movements and action and were asked to over exaggerate them to make them funny.
Year 6 have been designing their own products this week to advertise over the radio. They first have had to think carefully about what they would like to advertise and how it fulfills a purpose. They then have started to write their own radio advert scripts in the style of an original 1920/30’s radio ad.
The year 7 & 8 elective group have just found out which character has been murdered in their murder mystery unit. They have been working on an alibi for their characters and have been understanding their character's motives. They have written monologues to perform in their police interviews next week.
Well done everyone on a fantastic week. You can view it all here (please note that you will need to be logged in with an Edge Grove email account to access this folder).
In Art, there have been so many artworks that have been submitted this week and I wish I could show them all! Here are some of them and the rest can be viewed here (please note that you will need to be logged in with an Edge Grove email account to access this folder). Well done everyone on your fantastic work this week. We are very impressed!
Year 1 have been making turtles in the style of Bridget Beth Collins. It is lovely to see how resourceful the children have been, collecting natural materials to use.
Year 2 have been looking at Mondrian’s work and have been creating their own versions.
Year 3 are making sun symbols using salt dough and this week they have been practising using this malleable material.
Year 4 have researched Japanese artist Ando Hokusai and have recreated his print called The Wave using their own materials.
Year 5 have been researching cultural art and have chosen their own culture to explore. Here are some of the designs they have made.
Year 6 are developing their Pop Art projects. They are at different stages because of the Bank Holiday last week.
Year 7 and 8 have been developing their skills in texture this week.
