Upper School
Year 7 have been hard at work this week composing their own crime story in the style of Conan Doyle. Featuring Sherlock Holmes and Watson, their opening chapter describes the arrival of a client from a school in Hertfordshire called Edge Grove, who is in desperate need of their help to solve a shocking murder mystery. Here is a sample from Milo...
As I tucked into my luxurious portion of porridge and eggs, I thought Holmes seemed rather unsettled (much unlike his usual ostentatious, supercilious self). We were more than comfortable in our home, 62 Baker street, and I did not know what was troubling his impregnable mind this morning.
He looked up eagerly when a sharp rap on the door sounded. I warily got up and slowly spun the door open. A woman stumbled through the doorway, panting…She was around head taller than me with blonde hair and a manner of impatience. She collapsed into an armchair without invitation.
“How may I help you?” I asked appraisingly, an eyebrow raised.
She burst into an explanation. “I dare say you are Holmes,'' she said, addressing my colleague who nodded imperceptibly. "Well, we need you! There are so many things to tell you!” she gave a dry sob. “What is it, then?" I asked impatiently. She seemed to struggle to make a sound before she roared: “Murder!"
Well done Zoe for going above and beyond in her English. Zoe had finished answering a PEA paragraph question, but in her study period she continued in green font because she found two more quotations which stood out to her, and she wanted to practise. Zoe has shown a great attitude to learning, well done!
Congratulations to Head Boy Dan M for creating his own fitness video. This has been shared across the School, and he hopes it inspires all members of the school community to do his workout, whilst embracing this half term’s Flourish Focus ‘ Be Active’.
Thank you also to Deputy Head Boy Kieran for producing a short video presentation on the importance of risk-taking and how it can enable us all to be more successful in our learning.
Year 7 geographers have been putting both their listening and learning skills to the test this week by following step by step instructions to create diagrams explaining air pressure and relief rainfall. I think they have done a great job, see what you think in the photo below.
