It seems as though the most popular task during the Easter break was cooking and eating! I have simply loved seeing what you have all been getting up to. I cannot believe (well actually I can..) what risk takers you all are: toad in the hole, steak and handmade fries, cheesecake, the list goes on and on. I am also looking forward to seeing all the flowers and produce that you get from the seedlings you have planted. The weather has been glorious and I know all the staff can’t wait to see you again. Keep up the photographs (I have included many of them here) and don’t forget about the Inter-house Photography Competition. Year 3 It was lovely to see the children, albeit virtually, after the Easter holidays. Although daunting for many of us, it is safe to say that you have all made an excellent start at tackling the technology and we are proud of the children’s tenacity. It has been so pleasing to see all the hard work that the children have been doing and we have already had many of the reading challenges sent back in, as well as some truly eye-catching and detailed presentations and posters all about the Mayans. In English, year 3 have started reading The Hodgeheg and during maths they have got to grips with fractions. Despite an unusual start, the children have already been working very hard indeed!
Year 4 Over the holidays it was great to hear and see what many of Year 4 children were doing. The holiday tasks were to read a David Walliams book and we had feedback from parents that some children had enjoyed this so much that they had read several. The other task was to cook a meal for their families. All the teachers and pupils were able to view the photos throughout the holidays as they were shared on the All Year 4 Google Classroom. We wanted to name you all but there are so many. A BIG well done to everyone and you can keep them coming. Some of the children also posted presentations about what they did in their holiday and these too have been very uplifting, thank you for sharing. We are still waiting for some “keepy uppy” challenges though.
Fundraising Well done to Sophie who has been getting really good on her bike and last week she did 10km with her Daddy (Sophie cycling and dad running!). Today she wanted to go further and rode for 2hours and did 13.19km! Sophie is now setting herself the challenge of an even longer cycle to raise money for the NHS. Well done Sophie! We can’t wait to hear all about it and look forward to supporting you.
