The first Edge Grove’s Got Talent final was held on Friday 10th February 2023 and it was an exciting and nerve-wracking event, with pupils, teachers and parents all eagerly awaiting the performances of the talented contestants. There was a buzz of anticipation in the air as the audience settled into their seats in the Edge Grove theatre, ready to witness the creative and diverse talent of the Edge Grove community.
The Headmaster, Mr Balfour, stated, “I am massively excited since I love this kind of mad creativity that is going to be shown today.” Deputy Head Miss Leighton shared, “I am very excited but a bit nervous about the little folk coming on stage.”
The Journalist Club members were able to interview one of the judges. She spoke on behalf of the other judges and explained, “We are very excited for people to showcase their bravery, courage and talent.”
As the first performer took to the stage, the room fell silent, and all eyes were fixed on the young girl as she began to play a cool piece on the drums. The audience erupted in applause as she finished, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.
One by one, the contestants dazzled the crowd with their talent, from comedians, to dancers, singers to martial artists. Each act was met with enthusiastic applause and cheers of support; it was clear that the competition would be fierce.
As the final act came to an end, the judges took their time adding up the points each contestant had received to decide on a winner. Tension filled the room as the contestants and audience waited anxiously for the announcement.
And then, the moment arrived - the winner of the first Edge Grove’s Got Talent was announced as Bella, a talented young singer whose emotional and powerful performance had left the audience in awe. The room erupted into cheers and applause, as Bella was congratulated by her fellow contestants.
Overall, the competition was a huge success, showcasing the incredible talent of the school’s students and bringing the community together in celebration of creativity and artistry. Congratulations must go to the finalists and Miss Saville and Mr Aitchison who created a spectacular event. It was a night that will be remembered for years to come, and one that will no doubt inspire talented Edge Grove students to shine in the future.
