We were very grateful to be able to take part in this event again this year. We had two teams competing in this four school event with an U11 team and U13 team. The pupils take part in a number of events and all the totals are added together with every individual result counting towards the team totals. We had a number of pupils who won their own individual races but special mention has to go to the following pupils who were the overall event winners across the 60 pupils in their age group: Connor U11 Shot Putt Connor U11 Javelin Noah U11 Cricket Ball Alex U11 Hurdles Jesse U13 Long Jump Jesse U13 High Jump Emilio U13 Shot Putt Daniel U13 Triple Jump
After the final relay races we placed second in the U11 age group and 2nd in the U13 age group by only 2 points!!! Well done to everyone involved on a great afternoon of athletics.
Edge Grove 21 - Lochinver House 15
I am very grateful to Lochinver House for agreeing to play this fixture against us at such short notice as our very talented basketball team finally got their chance to show off their skills. We took a big squad of players over to Lochinver and all the boys played with great energy and enthusiasm. This match was very evenly contested however when we had our full strength team on against their full strength team we were able to control the match and dominate the scoring opportunities.
Daniel Me captained the team on the day and was a tower of strength both on attack and defence. Sam, Jesse, Prashil and Terry all played well, demonstrating excellent dribbling technique, game awareness and shooting skills. Dan Ma came into his own when we had our full strength team on and dominated the rebounds to secure possession for the team. Well done to everyone involved on a very enjoyable afternoon of basketball.
Edge Grove 86 All Out Aldwickbury 87 for 0 Aldwickbury won by 10 wickets
We started this game well being 20 for no wicket after 4 overs however their spinners came on and we then lost wickets at regular intervals with only Toye (19) and Louis (16) managing to make double figures. We bowled well in defence of a low target but our fielding was way below par and Aldwickbury passed our score with ease. This was a game in which excellent fielding and catching any chance by Aldwickbury and the opposite from us was the most notable difference. One game to go, let’s hope for a good performance.
Edge Grove 150 for 5 Aldwickbury 95 for 7
A Wednesday afternoon well spent in the sun and a fantastic game of well played cricket. We won the toss and Sammy decided we would go out and have a bat. After 10 overs we had made a quick start and scored 96 runs. The runs slowed down a little between overs 12 and 20 but we finished on a very respectable 150. Strong batting performances from Charlie P (30), Emmanuel (32) and Sammy* (33). We then went out to bowl and after 2 overs we had Alwickbury at 11 runs for 4 wickets. They managed to bat out the 20 overs but with some sensational from our boys we held them to 95 runs. Emmanuel bowled 3 overs for 17 runs and 4 wickets. Prashil bowled 3 overs for 2 runs with 2 maiden overs. Miles bowled 3 overs for 11 runs and 1 wicket. The whole game was played in great spirit and once again the boys continued to support and encourage each other. Well done lads.
Edge Grove 106 - Gayhurst 85
Our first time playing against Gayhurst School we won the toss and chose to field first. The girls
The U11 team had a fantastic match against Aldwickbury on Wednesday afternoon. Despite a slow start in our batting we managed to set a rather competitive target of 89 runs, Connor Mc top scoring with a fine 32. What came next can only be described as a fielding and bowling masterclass, the bowling team (everybody bowled) were fantastic and the fielding was excellent. Aldwickbury ended up scoring 76 runs meaning that Edge Grove won by 12 runs. The lesson we learnt was that whatever the score to defend should you field well and bowl with accuracy you can give yourself a good chance of a victory.
Aldwickbury 148 of 20 overs Edge Grove 200 of 17 overs
Edge Grove dominated from the start and produced a good bowling display. Line and length accompanied with accuracy kept Aldwickbury’s score to 148 of 20 overs. Wickets from Ben, Rex, Avi, Rohan, Niccolo and Viaan were supported in the field by Albert, Oliver, Jamie, Alex and Ollie. This cemented a fine display of bowling and fielding.
Edge Grove continued to dominate Aldwickbury’s bowlers and everyone contributed with the bat to seal the win. Time was not on our side and Edge Grove had to finish 3 overs before but the victory was complete. Well played everyone and good luck in the next match and let's not forget to stay focused and not be complacent after a good performance.
Aldwickbury 104 for 6 Edge Grove 100 for 7 Lost by 4 runs In our most exciting game to date, we won the toss and put our opponents into bat. Once again, our bowling was tight and restricted our opponents to 69 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, we managed to score 70 with the bat but because we lost that extra wicket, the game went to Aldwickbury. It all came down to the final ball. A dot ball would have won us the game, under the format we played, but it was edged to first slip who took the catch and snatched victory from our grasp! Disappointing but what a finish!
The Year 4 boys and girls ended their cricket season with some fabulous matches against Lochinver House. It was great to see all of the teams putting into action all of the skills they have learnt and it was really good to have the Lochinver House Director of Sport comment on how well all of the Edge Grove pupils bowled. Well done to all.
Special mention must be made of Anabelle, Robert and Arav who bowled extremely well. Batting mentions need to go to Ben R, Athina and Olive. Kellan K also fielded superbly.
This was a fantastic way to end the season and we look forward to next year with great optimism.

With some excellent bowling and quick witted fielding they worked very hard to stop their opponents scoring runs. A special mention must go to Laurence for his quick thinking and impressive fielding. The team batted well and enjoyed scoring runs. Kavya captained the team well with excellent communication and encouragement and fierce batting! A great team effort, well done. Mr Davies team

Mrs Massey and Miss Day’s team
The team were very excited to be playing their first away match and our team captain, Arman, chose Edge Grove to bat first. Thomas Ward scored some great 4 runs hits and worked well with his partner, Xander. The whole team must be congratulated for their enthusiastic attitude and the Beechwood Park coach even commended them on how much they had learnt and improved in their fielding and communication skills as the match progressed. A fantastic afternoon for the team; well done all!
Miss Jancey’s team
Our team was captained by Alexa who chose Edge Grove to bowl first. They worked well as a team to communicate and made great decisions. Alexa successfully bowled a few of Beechwood Park out! Dylan demonstrated excellent skill when batting and hit a few fours! Well done to Alexis and Zara for being vigilant fielders. The game ended in a draw.
