It was an absolute pleasure to spend some time in the woods with Reception on a glorious autumn afternoon. Mrs Doughty and her little band of woodland friends were busy making wind sticks, which towards the end of the afternoon were fluttering beautifully and effectively in a diamond shape to illustrate wind direction. The session has its obvious weather watching connections but was also linked to the safe use of sticks - they come in very handy when building shelters and stirring potions! Pre-School enjoyed their session in the garden with Mrs Doughty too, taking the opportunity to use the mud pie kitchen for the first time and were also introduced to PE with Miss Bonnick. Year 1 have been reading The Tortoise and the Hare and without me needing to wear my magic glasses, each class was able to tell me the moral of the story. In maths, year 2 have been demonstrating their problem solving skills as we focus in on understanding number and more specifically, place value. Over the coming weeks there is much to look forward to; each class will vote for the pupil they would like to represent them on Pupil Council and I am delighted to report that House points are flooding in, each one eagerly noted by the year 2 captains.
