Get to know the people behind Edge Grove
What is your name?
Katy Miller.
What is your role at Edge Grove?
Head of Humanities and Geography teacher.
How long have you been at Edge Grove?
This is my 4th year at Edge Grove.
What did you do before joining Edge Grove?
I lived in Alicante, Spain and worked on the school leadership team at Kings College Alicante.
What do you love most about your job?
I could fill several pages about what I love but I will keep it short. No day is the same, every day I face different children, different topics, different tasks and different challenges. I love witnessing the ‘lightbulb moment’ where you can literally see the spark ignite in a child’s eyes as they grasp a new concept and the resulting smile that spreads across their face. I am passionate about geography and when I see that passion in others, I know I’m doing something right!
What do you love most about Edge Grove?
Everything and everyone! Edge Grove is the friendliest school I have had the pleasure to teach in. Every member of the school community will greet you with a smile and you know you are supported. I also LOVE the school grounds and try and get my classes outside and exploring as much as I can!
Who is your favourite colleague and why?
This is a tough one, they're all fabulous obviously! If I had to be pushed I would say Miss Dean and I are good at bouncing ideas off each other and Miss O'Hare is great at supporting me to help make these ideas a reality.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
By the sea... somewhere hot and fabulous!
What is your biggest fear? Being stuck in one place and not being able to travel.... oh wait!
What did you want to be when you were little?
A cartoonist! But I also wanted to own a camper van and travel the world!
