Don't forget to submit your entries for the first house competition of the year.
All details about the first house competition ‘new year…new goals’ is on your child’s house Google classroom. Pupils are tasked with creating an artistic piece of work relating to their dreams and aspirations for the future OR a goal they want to independently achieve this year. They may present this in any way they like - the more creative the better. Please do not hesitate to contact Miss Saville (jsaville@edgegrove.com) or Mr Aitchison (taitchison@edgegrove.com) for further queries and guidance. Good luck! Thank you to Deeksha and Julia, two of our Edge Grove School Journalists, who have written the report below about our famous House boards that sit under the arches at the heart of the school. It's an informative and humorous read!

First up, we have the house boards. Let us describe and tell you more about them… Each house has a board in the Yard and the upkeep of the boards earns points for each house. Last year, Stratton always won the house board competition. So how are the boards looking so far?
First up we have Stratton! The ideas are amusing and creative because the House Leaders have put up positive quotes, so whenever you pass them you read them and they suddenly brighten up your day so then you are joyful and powered up! Not only that, they have also put up everyone’s pictures so now we all know who is in Stratton.
Secondly we have Hedgerows!
Something about this particular house is that leaders are being fair to their members by putting up a suggestion box and so many suggestions are appearing in the box everyday. Surprising isn’t it? The house board is being decorated with mind blowing ideas that the members of Hedgerows have recommended.
Thirdly we have Gills!
This house is cool because of their ten, daily, challenging riddles. We read one and it was, “ An old man died of old age 10 days after his 25th birthday how?” Guess what - we still do not know the answer to the riddle ! They have also put up a picture of Queen Elizabeth (which is what all the other houses have done too).
Fourthly is Churchills!
Well, what they have is a summary of Queen Elizabeth’s life and a fun fact it's that during her life, she had 30 corgis just because she loved them so much. Also they advertised inter house hockey for girls and inter house football for the boys.
Finally we have Sarnesfield!
We are sorry for Sarnesfield parents reading this. It's just that there was not that much to write about to be honest but at least there is a picture of the Queen saying that Sarnesfield will remember Elizabeth II.
So far we would say that STRATTON IS IN THE LEAD!
Now it is time for the competitions on House News!
The first competition is called New Years New Goals and children are invited to be creative and express their hopes and goals for the year ahead in a variety of different ways: Podcast, Art, Animatitions, Creative Writing, Sculpture, Video, Design, Poster etc.
The second competition is the Flag Competition where children can design a flag for their house. Miss Saville says, ‘Mr Aitchison and I will decide the best flag designs which will be created into REAL FLAGS! They will then be flown at the front of school on the Edge Grove flag pole for a few days after your house wins a competition!”
The deadline for entries is Monday 10th October and we are wondering, who will win?
