Year 3 It has been amazing to see so many photos of the children’s afternoon learning. Keep sharing them with us as it is a joy to see what the children have been doing to keep both their mind and body active. In maths this week, the focus has been on fractions including finding equivalent fractions and ordering and subtracting fractions. The children have wowed us with their knowledge and ability. The Hodgeheg by Dick King-Smith has been the focus for English. The children have enjoyed exploring the characters and setting. Well done for getting on board with the daily Flourish Focus. It was great to hear about all of the board games you played.
Year 4 What a busy time it has been for everyone this week! The year 4 children have shown great resilience and determination in response to the challenge of online learning. In English lessons the children have been looking at nonsense poetry, in particular the works of Edward Lear. They were then asked to create their own limericks which they then performed to the rest of the class. These received big laughs and demonstrated just how poetic year 4 really are! In maths classes the children were using their geometry skills to recognise angles and to identify different types of quadrilaterals. Ask your child to tell you what the word ‘quadrilateral’ means and share with you the properties of some. It has been wonderful to see your photographs this week of the children playing board games, cooking and baking and taking part in Games lessons in the garden. We hope the children have enjoyed their virtual classrooms this week and we look forward to another week of online learning.
Congratulations must also go to Tara who was awarded two Blue Peter Badges this week, a Silver Badge for her Coronavirus Poem and a Green Badge for her Saving the Planet Poster. Well done Tara! She also got the Diamond badge last year, which comes every 10 years only, and she got a Blue badge when she was in Year 1. Impressive stuff!
