1st Team v Westbrook HayEdge Grove 4 Westbrook Hay 4
Goals: Nefe O x1, Luke M x1, Niccolo C x1, Henry H x1
A thrilling contest, albeit a disappointing finish. Westbrook Hay started with ferocious intensity, having a number of early chances go wide or denied by some good saves from Niky. However Edge Grove were able to weather the early onslaught without conceding, leading to the first goal coming from a well worked counter attack. This brought confidence to Edge Grove who started to control the game and 2 more well worked goals meant that we went into the halftime break leading 3 - 0. Westbrook Hay started with more intent in the second half and unfortunately we conceded twice from rebounds despite more great saves from Nikki. Edge Grove reacted well and some good skills from Nefe, Niccolo and Albert alongside accurate through balls to Henry and Luke led to us taking a 4 - 2 lead with 10 minutes to go. Despite some good last ditch tackles from Isaac, Caitlin, Oliver and Lir the pressure showed and Westbrook Hay were able to get 2 more goals to level the scores. Henry almost snatched the win with the last kick of the game but was denied by the crossbar. A great game to finish a fine season from the players.
2nd Team v Westbrook HayEdge Grove 3 Westbrook Hay 4
After conceding an early goal, the 2nd team defended well against a second early onslaught from Westbrook Hay. A (now standard) strong performance from Henry and Jamie in defence denied Westbrook Hay numerous chances, and reliable clearances from Robert allowed Edge Grove to mount numerous counter-attacks. After conceding a second, the Edge Grove 2nd team took a goal back, justly rewarded for their continued attacking efforts. The first half finished 2-1.
The midfield of Karsten, Kamil and Rahul had their work firmly cut out for them all game, and they tirelessly tracked back and forth in an end-to-end game. Kamil's tackling has been stand-out all season, and this game was no exception - Kamil's work rate and presence on the pitch resulted in one of the performances of the season.
The second half saw Edge Grove score once more early on, before conceding twice more to take the score to 4-2 Westbrook Hay. More end-to-end action and a tiring defence allowed Shay and Olly to put together attack after attack, winning countless corners and putting the Westbrook Hay goalkeeper to work.
An own goal from Westbrook Hay saw the game end 4-3.
3rd Team v Westbrook HayEdge Grove 5 Westbrook Hay 2
Our last game of the season was an absolute thriller and we came away with our first win. This is testament to the hard work and focus that the boys have put into improving their skills and tactics over the season. Special mention today must go to Rohan who scored a hatrick, his quick movement on the ball was a feat to be reckoned with. Arthur scored the other two goals with Benjamin S-G providing a lot of assists. Well done boys!

Edge Grove started a little slowly in this match and ended up going a goal down after a few minutes. We came back strongly and scored to equalise. Harry played well in goal and made several saves but the defence weren't able to help prevent the follow up shots scoring unfortunately. In the end we went down 2 - 5

A much stronger and more resolute Edge Grove team took the game to Manor Lodge out competing them in every match up. We went close several times to scoring but were not clinical enough in front of goal. Noham was very strong fending off challenges and driving the ball forward, Mx made some good runs and played several crosses into danger. Ben competed and defended well. Harry was great in front of the sticks again. Marley was composed and Timi made many telling interventions and dribbled the ball well. In the penultimate minute we lost the ball and conceded to a quick counter-attack which decided the game 0-1 in Manor Lodge's favour. Their goal coming very much against the run of play.

A disastrous start to the game for Edge Grove allowed Westbrook Hay to score in the first 30 seconds from kickoff. This was followed immediately by a second goal from Westbrook Hay. Edge Grove managed to refocus and pressed the opposition goal but were unable to finish. Towards the end of the game Edge Grove conceded an own goal. A disappointing game for the team.Westbrook Hay 0 Manor Lodge 0
During the break the team regrouped and refocused on their next game. The boys watched Westbrook Hay and Manor Lodge play to a goalless draw.

From kickoff Edge Grove was on fire. They had put the result against Westbrook Hay behind them. The defence was rock solid with wonderful interplay between the midfield and offensive line. At full time Edge Grove had found the back of the net on 6 occasions, plus keeping a clean sheet. A wonderful team performance to finish a great season.
Congratulations to the following players who had regularly represented the Colts B team during the season. Alex G, Alfie L, Harry R, Isaac K, Zak M, Kaelan S, Benjamin L, Ayaan A, Brodie SH, and Imeth M.
Colts C
This was a fantastic set of games, in which the team were able to really give it their all and showcase skills they have learnt and developed throughout the season. Xander and Natty worked excellently together in defence; Imeth, Darcey and Brodie made some accurate passes giving the strikers several beautifully placed shots on target, that Joseph and Taylor were able to follow through with some goals. Special mention goes to Arav, who has consistently every week shown resilience as the goalkeeper making it difficult for oppositions to score against. A great finish to the season, well done to all team players.
Colts DEdge Grove 2 Westbrook Hay 1
This was a very good, competitive game of football with both teams passing the ball well and trying to play a good brand of football. Westbrook Hay scored an early goal however we showed good grit and resilience to keep working hard and never dropped our heads. Ronan was great in goal making a number of good saves, Alex and Tio were rocks in defence allowing James, Robert and Logan in midfield to have the freedom to attack as much as possible. Harry was a good centre forward, moving well and causing the opposition a lot of trouble. Well done to all on a great game and a fantastic way to end the season.

An exciting and hard fought match from both teams. This is exactly the kind of match you want to have at the end of a season. The team were energetic and determined to win from kick off. The boys started to cause problems for Westbrook on both wings with some lucky escapes for the home team. Great play from midfielder Tom W to the forwards resulted in 4 goals - 2 scored by Samuel assisted twice by Jesse, 1 by Blake H and 1 by Devan. The defense (Wucheng in goal, Blake G and Aiden) also deserves praise for being rock solid under, at times, repeated onslaught from the home team. Well done to each and everyone of you. It was a pleasure to accompany you on your final match of the season.

A very energetic and intense match. The score kept changing in favour and against Edge Grove. Arman scored the final goal in the last 2 minutes of the match. Westbrook only had 5 players so we gave them one and played a match with 6-6. Very good team effort and a positive attitude from team players. Very good attack strategies but we need to work on the defence as they were not organised in that area.
U10/U11 Mixed Football v Westbrook HayA fun afternoon of football for the U10 and U11 girls yesterday. Edge Grove worked their socks off running up and down the pitch to keep up with their opponents, Westbrook Hay. Westbrook Hay are a strong side, who play football all through the term. Nevertheless, Edge Grove got stuck in, played with maximum effort and showed great team spirit and enthusiasm. It was great to see the girls in a different sporting environment, trying to apply their skills and knowledge from Hockey into their football matches.
U10 Haileybury TournamentThe girls enjoyed a thrilling afternoon of indoor hockey at the annual U10 Haileybury tournament. Facing our regular rivals - Beechwood Park, Heath Mount, Kingshott and Chesham Prep the girls adjusted quickly to what is a very different game to what they are used to. The fast pace, the use of the walls, the shuffle; all new to them. They moved the ball around well, went in for tackles and played defensively against Kingshott, our first opponents, winning 2-1 and giving them a boost for the remaining games.
A tough match followed against Heath Mount, who went on to win the tournament, and another against Chesham Prep who won on shuffles. However, the girls held their heads high and beat Beechwood Park convincingly in our final game.
Congratulations to the whole team who worked extremely hard all afternoon and produced some excellent hockey, individually and as a team. Special mention goes to Amelie for making some excellent saves as goalie and scoring a goal as soon as she was out of goalie kit! Also to Zara who continuously plays with drive and determination and converted 2 out of 3 shuffles.
Final results of the afternoon:
