If you went down to the woods on Friday, you might have seen Reception enjoying adventures with their favourite bears. Mysterious, large footprints were found and the children were sure that they saw a large pair of brown eyes peering out from behind some bushes. Pre Prep staff rarely miss an opportunity to dress up and Miss Chaplin added some magic to the proceedings by masquerading as a unicorn, her coloured costume fleetingly glimpsed as she skipped through the woods. The children were finally visited by a large brown bear (also know as Ma Goossens), who wanted to say thank you for a lovely day. I very much enjoyed hearing all about how Reception Elm made their own paper mache volcano; we are looking forward to its imminent eruption! In Pre-School, the children were hearing about how Kipper celebrated his birthday as part of the Religious Studies program of study. Birthdays as happy occasions are known and experienced by our youngest pupils and so we always start here before going on to explore other celebrations, including those associated with major religions. In year 1, Frida Kahlo was a focus of study and I was very impressed by the art which was inspired by her work. Year 2 have been learning about the features of a sentence and noting the difference between a statement, command, exclamation and a question and adding the correct punctuation in addition to some quite interesting and dynamic vocabulary. Don't forget to check out the Flourish section of this newsletter for details of a Virtual Pre Prep Coffee Morning taking place on Wednesday 7th October.
