From board games and badminton to table-tennis and talent shows, it has been a very busy week for Houses! The house spirit is certainly alive and kicking in all phases of the school and competition is certainly heating up between our five houses with it being extremely close at the top with house points! Thank you and well done to Rex A & Ben R who bravely competed in a table-tennis rally during the start of assembly, showing their skills to the rest of the school. They even managed to beat Mr McManus & Mr Balfour!
Board Games club on a Tuesday lunchtime is proving very popular with Year 5-8 pupils. It is a joy to see them improving upon their chess, scrabble and draughts technique whilst gaining a sense of enjoyment playing these classic games with peers, as well as developing some key skills: strategy, hand-eye coordination and critical thinking (all whilst earning house points)!
Miss Saville & Mr Aitchison had the extremely difficult task of shortlisting 15 finalists from over 70 auditions for Edge Grove’s Got Talent. This was a difficult task but we praised all pupils for their commitment, courage and confidence in participating (and achieving many house points for their house!). They should all be very proud of themselves and should certainly continue to practise and prepare their talents for next year!
We look forward to welcoming families of finalists to the final on Friday 10th February at 5pm. Please email office@edgegrove.com to confirm your attendance.
We wanted to share this excellent video sent in from Churchills pupil Krishna in Year 2. It is a brilliant short video of his house flag submission amalgamated into an animated video, whilst tying into our school theme of being part of a pride and "making the Edge Grove Lion roar". Thank you for sharing this with us Krishna and well done! You can view the video here.
Best of luck to all pupils from Year 1 to Year 8 participating in the Lexathon house finals this week. We look forward to lots of spelling, word jumble and puzzle games!
