Rehearsals and the final filming of the Pre Prep Nativity 2020 were an exciting focus for children and staff this week. Each year group has worked hard to contribute to what I know will be a wonderful collaborative retelling of the Christmas nativity story and we look forward to sharing it with everyone before the end of term. All around the Pre Prep the traditions of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah have been shared and Year 1 especially enjoyed the story Sammy Spider’s First Hanukkah by Sylvia Rouss. Year 1 & 2 have been solving problems using money and it was interesting to note that in these strange times when cash is not in frequent use, some revision of coin recognition has been necessary. I shared the story of how coins played a part in my family Christmas traditions, from a sixpence hidden in the Christmas pudding to my father eagerly searching for a shiny new penny in his Christmas stocking. In Reception, the Christmas elves have set up workshops to keep up with toy making demand and little post offices have also appeared so that we all have an opportunity to post our letters to Santa in good time. In Pre-School, messy play Friday had a snowy winter feel as the children once again enjoyed this sensory delight. And finally, thank you for your donations to Noah's Ark Children's Hospice for the Welly Walk as mentioned in Miss McDonald's introduction. Raising £6,076 is an incredible achievement and we thank you all for your support.
