1st Team v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 6 Westbrook Hay 6 Scorers: Nefeye x 6
Edge Grove played a strong Westbrook Hay team for their last game of the season and what a game of football we witnessed. Edge Grove started slowly and after ten minutes Westbrook Hay managed to score three goals. Our defensive duties as a team were lacking and opportunities for Westbrook Hay to score produced four goals at half time. Edge Grove managed to find some team spirit in the last five minutes and two goals from Nefeye before the break produced a 4-2 half time score. A team talk about belief and effort accompanied with a high press made for a very entertaining second half. Milo, Jimmy, Monty, Freddie and Albert created a solid defensive display and Westbrook Hay could only score two goals in the second half. This helped our momentum going forward and good distribution by Charlie, Niccolo and Prashil to our main threat of Nathan and Nefeye created chances to score. A few near misses from Nathan and four additional goals by Nefeye completed a 6-6 draw. The last ten minutes Edge Grove found themselves 6-4 behind but all our training throughout the season paid off with endeavor and perseverance to create two goals from Nefeye. A mention to Oliver who was unable to play and he was missed in the defence today. Well played this season and well done everyone with the best performance saved till the last match of the season. Thank you parents for your support throughout the season. (Mr Lloyd)
2nd Team v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 5 Westbrook Hay 1
The season ended with a fine 5-1 victory over Westbrook Hay. All 12 players in the squad played their part in an attacking display with plenty of determination and skill on show. Goals from Roman (2), Thomas, Rex and Luke were all well taken, rounding off fluent moves. 3rd/4th Team v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 3 Westbrook Hay 4 The 3rd team played a game of two different halves on Wednesday. With the first half consisting of us spending the majority of the time defending we finally broke through with Dev scoring our first goal. Louis put some excellent pressure on the Westbrook Hay attackers, he then cleared the ball out of our defensive half. After a great half time chat, Ami and Aarav made some excellent drives towards our goal which then resulted in Dev scoring another two goals in the second half. The score does not reflect the teamwork and passion that all of the players showed this afternoon. Well done to all of the team. Colts A v Westbrook Hay
The final match of the season and a festival with Manor Lodge and Westbrook Hay. Certainly our toughest opponents we have faced this season. Even though both games ended in a loss they certainly enjoyed their last games and left it all out on the pitch. It has been great to coach the boys this season and to see them progress and support each other during matches and during training sessions. Great work boys it has been a real enjoyable and fun season.

Two well fought, evenly matched fixtures to finish off what has been a fantastic season back. First up EG played Westbrook Hay who put us under intense pressure from the first whistle. This led to an early goal to WH, but soon after we managed to get back into the match. Chances continued throughout the first half for both teams, and we were able to get a deserved equaliser on the counter attack. The second half did not show any less intensity but neither side we able to break the deadlock.
Next up was Manor Lodge, who used the space well and kept the pressure high. Edge Grove went into this game with good teamwork and started to create chances of their own by using accurate passes into space. After a goalless first half it was ML who scored the winner with minutes left to spare. A great afternoon of football with the pupils showing some brilliant teamwork to hopefully bring into the next season. Two contrasting matches which both saw the Edge Grove team applying pressure from the first whistle. An early goal in the Westbrook match gave the team confidence and the pressure remained on throughout the first half. An early goal for Westbrook in the second half revitalised their team and what followed were a series of well constructed attacks, resulting in three goals.
The team started the Manor Lodge match with renewed focus and understanding that it isn’t over until the final whistle. Manor Lodge started well and there were opportunities for both teams. However, as the match progressed, Edge Grove came to dominate and saw their defence crumble, allowing seven goals from open play and Manor Lodge dropping to six men meant all players were rolling on and off for the second half. One goal was stopped by a player off the pitch, resulting in a penalty, which Funwa successfully converted.
A mixed bag of result but an 8 - 0 victory is certainly a good way to end football fixtures for this season.
Colts E v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 3 Westbrook Hay 2 This was an exciting last game of the season and all the boys played well; working together as a team throughout. We started strong and there were some excellent passes from our attackers and a number of attempts on goal. After several minutes David Andrew was able to get past their goalie and eventually score the first goal. Westbrook quickly retaliated and a break in defence had us going into half time 1-1. In the second half we had most of the possession and Artem scored a great goal from just inside the box. Again, Westbrook Hay came back with another goal and had a couple more attempts on goal. Our defence stayed strong and quickly passed the ball up to our attackers enabling Artem to score the final goal one minute before the final whistle.

This was an excellent way to end the season with the boys playing a really fantastic match. Right from the start we were the better team, passing the ball effectively and creating a number of chances. Chase was tireless in his efforts all afternoon and was rewarded with scoring the first goal. Louie was a bundle of energy and created doubt in the opposition defence with his pace and he scored two goals as a result. Krish and Andreas were excellent in defence, not only stopping the opposition before they could threaten our goal, but also passing it well out of defence to create a number of attacking opportunities. Harry B was fabulous in goal and came off his line well to stop Westbrook Hay from having many goal scoring chances. Arjan and Devan worked with great enthusiasm in midfield, winning the ball for the team and putting in some very telling passes. Well done to you all.

We played two shortened matches against Westbrook Hay and the boys should feel very proud of their efforts. The improvement throughout the season has been incredible to watch. Congratulations to Oliver F who scored his first ever hat-trick and well done to Nico. Jesse and Koby who also scored. Ben deserves praise for his hard work in midfield and his excellent passing on the ball and Daniel and Hunter were both very effective in defence and midfield. This was an excellent way to end a successful season.
U10A Haileybury Tournament Edge Grove U10’s got to experience a new version of hockey this week, taking part in an indoor tournament, a much faster paced game. The team started off slowly drawing 2-2 with Kingshott, goals were scored by Zuriela and Keavy, the team worked hard but were not quite switched on in this game and their feet seemed to get in the way on a number of occasions. Edge Grove progressed well through the tournament and started to find their rhythm, they could not seem to find their way into the goal against a weaker Heath Mount but managed to win against Beechwood Park. Their final game was against Chesham Prep and was a much more competitive game, drawing 2-2 at half time. However Chesham ran away with the game in the second half. Special mention to Zuriela who played out of her skin scoring all but one goals. Well done to all involved excellent work by the whole squad. Results as follows: Edge Grove 2 Kingshott 2 Edge Grove 2 Heath Mount 1 Edge Grove 2 Beechwood Park 0 Edge grove 2 Chesham 4
U10B v Chesham Prep Edge Grove 3 Chesham Prep 1 Excellent teamwork and good positioning were key components in our defeat against Chesham this week. The girls found space and passed efficiently to each other, moved the ball well from defence to attack and positioned themselves well in the D to make a number of attempts on goal. Managing to convert 3 of them, the score was a fair reflection of the game and the girls should be proud of themselves for putting on a fantastic team effort all round. U10C v Chesham Prep Edge Grove 0 Chesham Prep 4 A close fought game not reflective in the score. The girls defended well with excellent tackling and clearing the ball out wide by Sienna and Devika. However Chesham were efficient at keeping the ball in their attacking half and made several attempts on goal. Despite saving many of them we could not match the number of goals they scored but came away knowing what we must work on for next time. Everyone worked hard to move the ball around the pitch but we struggled to find space and our own players. A valiant effort on a very cold day the girls put up a brave fight but did not manage to secure a win this time. U9A/B v Chesham Prep Edge Grove 0 Chesham Prep 7
We played 4 quarters and fought well against a strong team with many players who play for clubs outside of school. The girls gave their all and demonstrated some excellent tackling in defence. They were under constant pressure at the back and Kavya saved numerous attempts on goal, never giving up. Zara made some fantastic breaks up front and scored twice in the last quarter but unfortunately they were too tough a match for us and this was reflected in the score.
U9 B/C v Chesham Prep Edge Grove 2 Chesham Prep 1
Edge Grove worked extremely hard this week and dominated the game. Essie and Eva focused well in defence ensuring Chesham could not get into the Edge Grove dee. Thirza, Alexis and Madison worked well together passing the ball and managed to get into the Chesham dee on many occasions. Thirza was able to score the first goal and kept it this way until the 4th quarter, when a laps in concentration in defence allowed Chesham to score. This was instantly responded to by Edge Grove with Alexis dribbling the ball into Chesham's dee and scoring the final goal of the game. Well done all girls
