Our Edge Grove School Journalists have been hard at work and this week I would like to share interviews conducted with our Head of Upper School, Mrs Anna Warren.
By School Journalist Alexis C-O, Y5Interview with Mrs Warren, English Teacher at Edge Grove School.
What is your profession?
I am an English teacher at Edge Grove School. I love stories and creative writing, I also teach the Edge Grove Baccalaureate which is taught to Year 8 pupils.
When did you first become a teacher?
I first became a teacher in 2003 because I didn't want a boring office job. I find teaching very entertaining as every day something different happens. Children are very energetic leading to very fun moments.
Where did you last teach?
I last taught in Camden, London. It was a fantastic school because the children learnt through the creative arts. There was a lot of drama, music and art.. But I decided to move to this school which I extremely enjoy as well.
What job did you have prior to your job at Edge Grove School?
I worked for a fashion design company translating Japanese and French. My daughter is also very keen on Japanese culture and she is trying to learn the language.
What type of books do you enjoy reading?
I find travel literature and fiction very interesting.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like swimming in lakes, cooking, (my favourite dish is sushi), going for walks/runs in the woods and most of all I love going to art exhibitions.
Do you have anyone who inspires you?
I would say my best friend called “Elly” inspires me because she is very talented and brave. She is also very funny. In general, I would say she is a very inspirational person.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
That question is a little bit difficult to answer but I would have to say my family is my biggest accomplishment because I am really proud of my children/family.
What has been your favourite experience teaching?
That's a hard question because there are so many, but my honest opinion is that seeing students grow and develop into wonderful young people has got to be my favourite experience teaching.
By Miriam R, Year 5Join Miriam, Alexis and Julia when they met Mrs Warren
The last time I interviewed someone they were new to the school and I really enjoyed it, but this time I decided to interview someone who has been here a long time.
Mrs Warren has been here for 9 years and teaches English and the Edge Grove Baccalaureate which is for year 8. Mrs Warren started teaching in 2003 and joined Edge Grove in 2013. Apparently she has never been interviewed before!!!
She wanted to become a teacher because she wanted to be entertained by young people. Everyday is different.
She last taught at Camden school in London and liked it because there was a lot of music, drama and art. Her job before becoming a teacher was in fashion design.
Her favourite time teaching is seeing the students grow. Her favourite object is a coffee maker and her favourite food is sushi. Her biggest accomplishment is her family because she is proud of her children. Mrs Warren has two children, a son and a daughter. Her daughter is at Edge Grove and is one of my best friends!
Mrs Warren likes to go lake swimming, cooking, take long walks and going to art exhibitions in her spare time. She can have a chat with Dr Passe about the best art galleries they have visited!
Her best friend Ellie is talented, brave, funny and inspires her everyday.
I really enjoyed interviewing Mrs Warren because she is really nice and fun. She even took me, Essie and all her friends to the cinema this weekend for Essie’s birthday. Outside of school she is just as nice!
I hope that I can interview some more teachers just like her - who would you like to hear from next?
