It was great to chat to so many parents last Friday at the coffee morning, indeed some of us were there until gone 11.00am. The past two years has certainly taught me that there is no substitute for a face-to-face conversation and we look ahead to planning more informal opportunities for you to meet the staff and each other, particularly at the start of the new school year. There will be another coffee morning on Friday 17th June from 8.15am when I look forward to introducing you to our Bursar Mrs Gillian Dippenaar and our new Assistant Head – Learning Success, Dr. Neil Alexander Passe.
The focus on personal and social development has never been more important than in today’s society where our young people, not least our tweens, are facing increased pressure as they navigate the challenges of the world around them. Edge Grove is proud of its academic ambition for every pupil but we also pride ourselves on helping children to develop the essential character attributes that will ensure that they continue to thrive both academically and socially.
This term, we have introduced a whole school values focus with the aim of understanding, developing and embedding some of these key character attributes. Throughout the term, we will learn about being principled, being a good communicator, being respectful and being open minded.
