By Mrs Katy Miller, Head of Houses
This term we have a wide array of events to appeal to the varied interests of our pupil body. The House competitions are not just sports-based despite the glorious weather of late and in fact, this term kicks off with the Inter House music competition which is being run through the music lessons and will enable every pupil the opportunity to compete. I cannot wait to hear the talents of our musicians and there will be staggered finals held in June/July. Further information is available from our Director of Music, Mr Leutfield if required.
As the term progresses we will see some pupils participating in a spelling bee and of course our legendary swimming gala. This is always an incredible day. For those not swimming there is a Creative Arts day on the final day of this half term. To keep this competition fair, the theme for the day will not be announced in advance and the House Captains will all meet me at 8.30am to collect their ‘golden’ envelope. This activity will see our children working as a House to produce a song, dramatic performance and artwork all focused on our theme of the day. The performance will be judged and points awarded throughout each phase of the school to decide an overall winning House.
One of the finest days in our school calendar is the Sports Day and work towards this is already underway.
So, as you can see, this is set to be an action packed, fantastic term ahead. I will keep updating you all and will be announcing competition winners as and when they are decided. In the meantime, calling all musicians to get ready for the first competition of the summer term!
