Year 5 Year 5 have had a busy and exciting week! In French, they built up their vocabulary with some more exciting and ambitious French verbs and adjectives. They then had some fun using their new skills to describe their friends and favourite celebrities in French! In history, they continued their research into the wives of Henry VIII, making excellent use of ICT to dive into Tudor times and uncover the details behind the women that King Henry is so infamous for his treatment of! In Maths, they continued their work on number and place value. They have also been exploring rounding and completing sequences as well as revising their knowledge of Roman Numerals! Lastly, in DT they submitted their final design for their mask and are now researching ideas for the next stage: decoration. They had some fun exploring ideas for embellishment and finding inspiration for the next step.
Year 6 It has been another busy week for Year 6! Thursday was National Poetry day and the theme this year was ‘vision’. The English department have been very impressed with all the different styles of poems the children produced; have a look at a couple below and ask your children if you can read their poems on classroom. In science they have been taking charge of their own learning and using the David Attenborough documentary ‘The Private Life of Plants’ to make their own notes. In their geography lessons they have been discussing how and why the tourist industry has developed over the years and exploring some of the UK’s National Parks. In IT they have been creating interactive quizzes using Google Slides and learning how to use hyperlinks. In RS, Year 6 explored the beautiful intricacies of Islamic art this week. They appraised photographs of Islamic art found around the world, and came up with words such as 'kaleidoscopic', 'ordered' and 'precise'. The pupils were particularly inspired by the vivid blue mosaics of Istanbul's Blue Mosque, and used this inspiration to spark ideas for their own Islamic-style art.

'Vision' By Shona I have a vision, of the past, present and future, I have a vision, of wonderful, bright nature. I have a vision, it’s right in front of my eyes, I have a vision, where nobody ever dies. What is a vision, is it a hallucination? What is a vision, will it be good for all the nation? I have a vision, and it’s never what it seems.
'Vision' By Honor I had a little vision, A dream I wanted to come true Where we would be together, yes, just me and you.
