I hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend and our Jubilee concert, tree planting and picnic on the last day of term was a fine and fitting tribute to Her Majesty the Queen on this very special occasion. We hope that the commemorative pins that the children received will be a lasting souvenir of the occasion as a pupil of the school.
For those of you who tuned into the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday evening, you will have heard the Duke of Cambridge say, “The pressing need to protect our planet has never been more urgent”. Our school Eco Committee led by Mrs Doughty continues to work hard throughout the year to ensure that we take action as a school community to raise awareness of environmental issues. This Friday, Mrs Miller will be leading our school environmental day when the children will be hearing speakers and taking part in a carousel of environmental themed events – more on that in next week’s newsletter.
This Saturday is the Friends of Edge Grove outdoor cinema day, an event that proved to be a huge hit last year. So far, the weather seems to be in our favour so here’s hoping for a great day of film, food, family and fun and I’d like to express my thanks to Kim Chan and the FOEG committee for all the work going on behind the scenes to ensure the event runs smoothly. Unfortunately, I won’t see you on this occasion as I am travelling on school business over the weekend but I look forward to hearing all about it on my return.
