Connect, Give, Be active, Take notice, Keep learning
Research has shown that giving and co-operating with others can stimulate the reward areas of the brain, helping to create positive feelings that can promote feelings of self-worth.
The warm feeling that comes from doing something kind comes from a physical change in the brain with the release of endorphins / hormones that boost feelings of happiness.
Acts of giving and kindness are frequently associated with positive mental wellbeing. Often, it is the little things that can make a difference to how we feel, a kind word, a smile or thoughtful gesture, giving someone time, care, thought or attention - all acts of giving we encourage children to engage in, for their own benefit as well as the benefit of others.
The key to maintaining the feel good factor achieved through positive connections with others is repetition, repetition, repetition! When we give to others we feel better about ourselves whilst spreading joy, when others give to us we feel the joy in return, two great reasons to focus on giving and encourage the whole family to set some giving goals. Why not have fun as a family by setting some ‘giving’ goals and sharing the benefits?

Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but what we give.
