Pre-School have curiously dipped their fingers into the newly introduced “challenge trays” which they can access independently to explore the concepts already introduced this term, ranging from some mirrors and paper with an invitation to draw a self-portrait, to Russian Dolls to be arranged in order of size. Our youngest pupils were also out and about in the village once again, this time posting their letters to Santa into a little red post box that magically appeared overnight. The enticing aroma of recently baked gingerbread filled the Pre Prep as the children enjoyed the tradition of decorating these treats with all sorts of decorative goodies; thank you to chef John and his team for once again entering into the spirit of all that goes on in school. The children were also astonished to see these same gingerbread people running amok in the classrooms overnight - thanks to the wonders of technology yet more Christmas magic was sprinkled around. In Year 2 I was invited aboard the Polar Express; my ticket was issued and duly stamped, I was given a little lantern to light my way and off we went in a puff of steam. Year 2 also enjoyed making and spinning dreidels in class as we continued to learn all about the traditions of Hanukkah too. The joy of all of these imaginary and creative experiences spreads much needed cheer amongst us all as we head towards the last week of term.
