U11 Basketball v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 4 Westbrook Hay 10
We had an excellent match on Tuesday afternoon against Westbrook Hay. There was some great basketball skills on display and we created a number of shooting chances but were unable to take advantage of these. Westbrook Hay separated their players into two distinct A and B teams whilst we continued to play our squad as a mixed ability team. This meant that in 2 of the quarters we were stronger than their team and they had the edge over us in the other two quarters. In the end, it was the fact that they were able to convert more of their chances that meant that they edged the match. Well done to all the players involved.

The team played very well, winning by 18 tries to 12. Top scorer was Zak followed by Devan, Imeth, Harry and Robert. A fun game in very wet and muddy conditions. Well done team! U8 Rugby We hosted an enjoyable afternoon of rugby against St Columba’s. There was some excellent rugby on show with all of the pupils getting involved. The key aim of the day was to look at passing the ball into space and moving forward with the ball, which the teams definitely demonstrated but also showed some fantastic defence and sprint speed to score some wonderful tries. The other team managers were impressed with our teamwork and structure. It was wonderful to see so many parents on the sidelines cheering Edge Grove on once more.
U10A v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 10 Westbrook Hay 10 You could forgive the girls for coming out on court this week and playing with caution due to the wet weather. They did nothing of the sort! They were focused and determined and quickly went 3-0 up in the first quarter. Adjusting well to each different formation the girls were fantastic in switching between attack and defence and really enjoyed the variety. Taking every opportunity to score Edge Grove were in the lead until the last quarter. With calm and confident gameplay the girls managed to equalise in the final minute, resulting in a very exciting last quarter. U10B v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 9 Westbrook Hay 2 The best performance of the season so far from the girls this week. Tight marking, calm and accurate passing, moving into space… it was a joy to see all the skills we have practised in lessons on display. Most impressive of all was the girls' shooting and the opportunities taken as soon as the ball was received in the D, some goals being scored from the very top of the D. The girls are now used to waiting positions and it is enjoyable to watch the strengths of each formation. A fantastic game and well deserved win. U10C v Westbrook Hay Edge Grove 9 Westbrook Hay 2 Another fantastic performance from the Edge Grove girls this afternoon. Demonstrating more confidence and drive on court than I have seen before the girls quickly took the lead in the first quarter. These early goals were a huge confidence boost and they continued to dominate the game scoring an impressive 9 goals in total. The girls have really come on this term and it was a joy to watch the game this afternoon. Well played everyone. An excellent afternoon of Bee Netball with two superb wins for our u11A team. Despite the rainy conditions and the tough oppositions, the girls stayed determined and enthusiastic throughout. Each week the girls continue to grow in confidence, implementing their skills into their game play. Edge Grove worked brilliantly as a team and this was evident in all areas of their performance. The girls were equally strong in both attack and defence, making excellent interceptions to stop numerous shots from the opposition, as well as demonstrating strength in their attacking circle, with great movement and very accurate shooting. Well played girls!

Two fantastic games of Bee Netball this afternoon from Edge Grove’s B team. As you can see by the scores the girls played brilliant defensive netball, only conceding two goals between both of the matches. They fought for every ball, really showing determination to win. A shout out to Emily P and Tara who played fantastically at GD and GK. Well done girls!
U8 v Chesham Prep A brilliant afternoon of Bee Netball for the U8 girls against Chesham Prep, with lots of match play, learning and many smiley faces! It was lovely to see such enthusiasm and determination from all the girls, working hard individually and as a team, encouraging one another throughout. The girls are really getting to grips with the new rules of Bee Netball and the constant change from attack to defence. The girls continue to show progression in the strength and accuracy of their passing, as well as their ability to defence. At times, the girls struggle with their movement due to the limited space of one third of the netball court. We will continue to work on all areas of play, particularly, creating and utilising the space effectively, to build confidence amongst the players when passing and moving the ball down the third. At the start, the girls were afraid to shoot unless it was directly under the post, however with encouragement and as the matches progressed, there was some excellent shooting from all involved. Well done to all the U8 girls!
