U13 Basketball vs St MartinsEdge Grove 14 St Martins 11
The Edge Grove team started extremely well and converted their possession into points to lead by 8 to 2 at half time. St Martins came back into the game and turned over our possession too easily and by the end of the third quarter we were 8 - 10 down. Some calm heads and improved shooting in the final quarter meant that we were able to run out fairly comfortable winners. Well done to all the pupils who played and to Luke who led the team well as captain.

What a brilliant win for the U11 A team, with Edge Grove raising their game against a strong opposition. The girls showed such determination throughout the match and pushed hard for the win. Edge Grove moved the ball quickly and confidently down the pitch, passing to each other in space to create many scoring opportunities. The girls entered half time 2-0 up, with excellent goals from Zuriela. Beechwood Park got a goal back, which encouraged Edge Grove to step up and continue to fight for the win. The girls showed strength in defence, stopping numerous attempts at goal. A great overall performance from everyone, well done goals.

A very close game for Edge Grove against a tough Beechwood Park side. The girls played brilliantly, working well and communicating effectively as a team. Edge Grove went 1-0 up very early on in the game. Well done Sofia C for a superb goal. The girls continued to work hard, trying hard to use the width of the pitch and utilise the space to their advantage. Unfortunately, Edge Grove conceded and the final result ended in a draw. The girls should be extremely proud of their performance, keeping their composure throughout the game and demonstrating superb ball control and movement on the pitch.

This was a close game of hockey resulting in a 2-2 draw. Both teams started strong with Edge Grove pushing through the BWP defence resulting in Jannah scoring our first goal. In the second quarter Edge Grove lost a little momentum and were struggling to find space on the pitch resulting in BWP scoring a goal. The third quarter saw us still not using our space effectively on the pitch and there was a lot of crowding from both teams resulting in a number of free passes being issued. In one of these free passes BWP were able to get past our defence and score their second goal. The final quarter we pushed hard and used our wings effectively enabling Evie to score our second goal just before the whistle. We need to work on our spacing in training and look at where our players are on the pitch as we were crowded together a lot of the time which meant we could not always push forward and attack.

It took us a little while to show our true potential in this game. However by half time we had warmed up and managed to score 2 goals. Our defenders were upbeat and both Zara and Kaviya made great tackles and cleared the ball out to the side. The forwards and mid fields worked well together with Chloe and Alexis moved into great space to keep the ball moving forward. A great second half to the game well done to all involved.

An outstanding performance on the Beechwood Park AstroTurf from the Edge Grove girls yesterday. We have been working on our ball control and distribution and this was pleasingly evident during the match. Excellent stickwork and tackling, in particular from Essie and Julia in defence, prevented the opposition from scoring until just before half time enabling us to lead by 1 goal for most of the match. The mid fielders worked extremely hard all match to help defend and move the ball up to attack. Dotty made a fantastic save after racing back from the 25 yard line into the D. The final score of 2-2 is a fair reflection of the match with both teams working tirelessly all game. Improved communication amongst those playing in attack and aiming for the goal as soon as the ball is in the D could possibly have earnt us a win on the day. However, a truly impressive team effort from everyone on the pitch and a performance all should be proud of.
1st XI v Beechwood Park and Heath MountEdge Grove 2 Beechwood Park 0Edge Grove 2 Heath Mount 1
The first team continued with their great run of form putting in a dominant display against both Beechwood Park and Heath Mount in this triangular fixture. We had the majority of possession in both games and passed the ball quickly and effectively creating a number of chances. With a bit more confidence to shoot early and take their chances we could have scored a number more goals. Niky was not called on very often in goal however he was alert and was able to keep a clean sheet for the afternoon until a very late Heath Mount goal. Isaac, Dami and Luke were solid in defence and passed the ball out from the back very well. Caitlin, Henry, Niccolo and Albert dominated the midfield, controlling the ball well and linking up well with both Ollie and Nefe were always dangerous on attack. Well done on a great performance.

This week's first fixture against Beechwood Park finished in a 0-0 draw. Both teams were hindered by poor weather, and an unpredictable wind made set pieces all the more difficult to defend. A late onslaught by Edge Grove was not enough to find the back of the net and the game ended goalless.
Edge Grove 2 Heath Mount 1
Edge Grove's second match against Heath Mount was arguably their performance of the season thus far. This was their second time playing Heath Mount this season, and saw them face a more collected and drilled opposition than the previous fixture.
Lir and Rex worked well together in attack. Lir was unlucky not to score early on in the game, but it was Rex who opened the scoring after a classic goalmouth scramble.
Rahul, Aidan, Oliver C and Henry worked tirelessly to dispossess Heath Mount at any opportunity, with Karsten, Kamil and Jamie controlling the midfield against some tough opposition. Kamil especially managed to appear all over the pitch, deftly regaining possession for Edge Grove.
In the second half, with the game tied 1-1, Rex ensured that Edge Grove were rewarded for their efforts by scoring once more. As ever, an infallible performance from Tobi allowed Edge Grove to hold on to a lead. The game finished 2-1 to Edge Grove.

Edge Grove 3rd team took part in a mini-tournament this week vs teams from Heath Mount and Beachwood Park. The first match ended in a draw, which is a big achievement for the boys as the last time we faced Heath Mount it ended in a 4-0 loss. The last game ended in a one-nil defeat which was frustrating for the boys as we had multiple shots on target but we just couldn't seem to capitalise. The 3rd’s have made great progress this season and with some work on their shooting power will continue to do so.
Shout-outs this week go to:Robert W - for his solid performance in goal. Robert made some amazing saves and only let in three goals throughout the afternoon. His goal kicks were accurate and powerful and helped take the pressure off our defence. Cameron F - this was his first match for Edge Grove and he showed a lot of defensive skill, he closed his player down well and made some important tackles.Rohan T - for his speed on and off the ball, he made some impressive attacking drives and made it difficult for the opposition's defence.

Great effort from the team. They played in a very consistent manner and continued to put pressure on the other team. They had several attempts at scoring but were unsuccessful at the first-half. In the last 10 minutes of the second half, they scored two times and the game finished in a tie. Overall great performance from everyone on the team and a very good attitude on the pitch. Passing improved on the second half when they all made sure they looked up before making a pass.
Colts B v Beechwood Park Edge Grove 2 Beechwood Park 2
Following on from the very disappointing result in the last game, the team returned from the mid term break completely refocused. With a couple of changes to the defence structure, everyone was looking forward to the game against a very strong Beechwood Park. Edge Grove started the game at a frenetic pace putting Beechwood immediately on the back foot. Kaelan S combining with Imeth and Zak M was able to score 2 wonderful goals before halftime. The often used adage “a game of two halves “ rang true. Edge Grove went on the defensive and Beechwood went on the offensive. The defence from Alfie L, Brodie S , Henry and especially Isaac K was solid, but a two minute lapse in concentration allowed Beechwood to equalise. It was a great game of football, played by two very good teams. Special mention must be made of Edge Grove’s captain and goalkeeper Alexander G. He was outstanding, at the end of the game Beechwood parents came over and congratulated him on his performance in goals.

A very close game with both sides fighting to equalise and then get the winning goal. A lovely example of end to end football full of close calls and some great saves by Arav in goal. The team played well keeping a positive attitude and determination to come back from being a goal down twice and to never give up. A point to work on would be communication in play that we will look to work on in future training sessions. They should be very proud of the great game they each played and the team spirit they displayed. Well done!
Colts D v Beechwood Park
This was a great game to watch filled with excellent sportsmanship and high-quality skills shown throughout. Each player showcased their abilities and collaborated with one another to ensure the best game could be played. Harry, Alex and Koby worked well as forwards putting pressure on the opposition to gain some close chances on goal. Ronan made some excellent saves throughout the game. Overall, a fantastic game played by the team and their best performance yet. This is one they should be very proud of.
Colts E v Beechwood ParkEdge Grove 2 Beechwood Park 4
This was a game where the scoreline flattered the opposing team. The Edge Grove boys played some excellent football, passing the ball well and showing great skill and determination. We were unable to convert numerous chances and every time Beechwood Park attacked they seemed to score. Edge Grove kept going to the end and scored two late goals which was just deserved! The boys should feel proud of the way they played and not judge themselves on the scoreline.
Colts F v Beechwood ParkEdge Grove 0 Beechwood Park 3
The Colts F showed grit and determination in their match against Beachwood Park this week. Despite losing 3 - 0, the boys demonstrated significant progress in the second half, communicating effectively and working together as a team. Marcus and Ben in particular, controlled the ball well in the midfield even after taking some serious hits from the opposing side. Daniel put Beachwood under pressure and Blake’s right boot kept us well within their half for the majority of the match. Eashan defended well in goal and was unlucky not to score himself, after switching positions in the second half.
Colts G v Beechwood ParkEdge Grove 2 Beechwood Park 2
After a heavy defeat just before half term the boys confidence was a little low but were still keen to play. With Beechwood scoring the first two goals it looked like it could be going the same way. Just before half time with a well placed pass to the Edge Grove striker they were able to get a goal back which was a real boost of confidence for the team. In the second half the ball was going end to end with some great saves from both keepers. With five minutes left to play Edge Grove scored a second goal from a well struck ball. Both teams were desperate for the third but neither could take one. Final score was 2-2 Edge Grove should hold their heads high with pride for a great come back and almost stealing a third for the win.
