U11 County Cup v Lockers Park Edge Grove 237 Lockers Park 266 (12 overs)
Colts As travelled with great anticipation to Lockers Park this week for their cup game. With the tournament rules reducing the team to 8 players and with a big quick outfield EG did very well to keep LP to a score of 266 (start on 200). We bowled accurately and fielded well against some strong hitters. We then started positively with the batting against some fast bowling, with good communication to make quick runs but did struggle to find the boundary. The -5 runs for losing a wicket did cost us as LPs bowling was also very accurate and we struggled against their spinners which meant that we could not reach the target set. Many positives to take from the bowling and fielding and some things to work on with our batting for future fixtures.

A great afternoon of cricket down at Aldenham Cricket Club. Heath Mount won the toss and decided to have a bat. Our opening bowlers Nathan T-S and Monty B were quick to apply the pressure on the opening batsmen. Our bowling throughout the match was accurate which kept Heath Mount to a low score of 58. We then took to the crease with much confidence. However, Heath Mounts’ bowling attack was extremely strong and we struggled to get the quick singles away. We held on until over 16 and we were bowled out. We had a great team spirit throughout the game and the team was very well captained by Monty.
Colts A v Heath Mount Edge Grove 70 all out Heath Mount 36-3 off 12 overs (20 over match) - MATCH ABANDONED
What an afternoon of cricket. Representing Edge Grove on the 1st team pitch we started slowly with the bat, occasionally getting a quick single but struggling to find the boundary against strong bowling from Heath Mount. Then Dylon K joined the crease and came out swinging, hitting 22 off 20 balls to help us reach 70 all out. As the clouds were getting darker we took to bowling and showed fantastic accuracy and intensity in the field to get some early wickets and keep the runs to a minimum. Unfortunately the rain did arrive and although we tried our best to continue, the match had to be abandoned as a cliffhanger. A shame for such a close and intense match but many positives from all of the players.

Mr Wallis - A lovely sunny afternoon of cricket away at Heath Mount this week. We batted first and demonstrated some lovely shots when we kept our eyes on the ball and hit the ball into the gaps. We do need to work on our communication when deciding to run in our batting pairs as we did have some confusion at times. We then did very well with our fielding to occasionally stop some very strong hitting from HM. Our bowling was a little wide at times so we will have to look at our accuracy for future fixtures.
Mr Gayle - An enjoyable fixture in the sun at Heath Mount. We batted first and managed to score a lot of runs with some very powerful hitting and quick running between the stumps. We also bowled well with nice accuracy when we focused and managed to limit HM to scoring less runs. However due to our aggressive hitting we did concede more wickets which is something that we can work on reducing next week.
Miss Lloyd - A very friendly against Heath Mount this afternoon. Edge Grove batted exceptionally well and worked hard going for every ball. Fielding was good and the team prevented their opposition from scoring many runs. However, it was a narrow loss, mainly due to several wides and no balls whilst bowling. With more power and practice on our arm action we can prevent giving too many points away to our opponents when it is our turn to bowl. U8 Cricket v Heath Mount
Mr Davies - Edge Grove played superbly in their game against Heath Mount and made some incredible catches. Ella and Cameron made two catches each and Nathaniel made one. There was also some excellent communication to build a really strong score. Edge Grove finished as comfortable winners. Miss Rose - A lovely afternoon of cricket in the sunshine for our U8 team. A very evenly matched game, with lots of great bowling and batting skills being displayed. Edge Grove batted first, working hard to move towards the ball every time. A special mention to Raphael for his superb batting, hitting the boundary twice! Edge Grove also worked hard when fielding, making several successful attempts to hit the wicket. Throughout the match, the children began to become more confident when bowling and we will continue to focus on accuracy of bowling in lessons.
Mr McManus - It was fabulous to see how much the pupils have improved in just one week. The bowling was more consistent and the fielding was much better, with the pupils being far more aware. Sophie was the pick of the bowlers and Henry bowled extremely well in his second spell. Freddie was the top batsman hitting a number of boundaries and Nathaniel took a great catch. Well done to all involved.
Miss Day - The team thoroughly enjoyed playing cricket in the afternoon sunshine. They are becoming more confident with the rules of the game and are enjoying honing their fielding and batting skills. John and Tommy must be particularly commended on their enthusiastic batting. Well done!
