A sunny Friday in May saw the return of the Edge Grove Golf Day bringing alumni, past parents and current parents together for a day of golf, lunch, and prize giving.
Armed with chocolate snacks, water and new balls, everyone set off in good spirits having enjoyed their breakfast roll and coffee whilst meeting their teammates. The rain didn’t put anyone off despite some not bringing waterproofs and, having played the splendid course at Aldenham, everyone returned to the clubhouse for a prize giving and a delicious two course lunch. This year the winners came from the current dads with Graham Smith winning trophy for the best individual score and the Reception dads winning the team prize too.
Nearest the pin was won by Steve Edgely and longest drive went to Blake Lewenden.Old boys and past dads returned to reminisce and we were joined by governors for the prize giving.
We would love to grow this event each year so if you fancy joining us for golf or just lunch next year register your interest to egs@edgegrove.com.
The provisional date for next year is Friday 26th May. We hope you can make it.
Once again we had a successful summer event of Staff v alumni cricket in June this year. We welcomed back young and older alumni, dads and staff to play in this match which is growing in popularity each year. It was a close game but the alumni/dad team triumphed in the end. Family and friends came to spectate and the weather stayed fine after the match so that we could enjoy a delicious bbq laid on by our catering team at Edge Grove.
If you are interested in returning to the school to play at this annual event please drop me an email on egs@edgegrove.com to express your interest.
Ned and Tom Holland-Hibbert also returned to the school to use the Edge Grove cricket pitch for their annual cricket match with friends and peers. It was a pleasure to welcome him back and a great afternoon was had by all.
In July, we held a spectacular charity ball in aid of the DEC Ukrainian appeal and raised over £8000 for this worthy cause. We were delighted to welcome back four of our alumni (Bruno Esses, Ben Haldane, Holly Maughan and Ben Stein) who gave their time for the evening helping out with the fundraising activities and keeping everyone topped up with bubbles and wine! It was great to see you back and thank you so much for your time.
