Welcome to the latest edition of the Edge Grove Society newsletter. Thank you once again to those that have sent in contributions. It is always lovely to hear how our past pupils are getting on and where in the world they have ended up. You can view updates from alumni here and we have received some excellent features from three alumni on the topics of memories of past Edge Grove productions, expat life and travel in Thailand. They are all very interesting reads.
This time I specifically reached out to some of our Alumni that are currently at university and asked them to write about their course and how they have found their experience in Covid times. I hope you enjoy their stories here.
Spring has definitely sprung here at the School with the daffodils at the front of the house in full bloom as I look from my office window at the front of the house. This week has seen a record 85 pupils depart on the ski trip to Austria, a tradition which continues to be popular at Edge Grove. I suspect some of you recall your time on a ski trip from the past so if you have any stories to tell please send them in for the next edition.
Unfortunately due to the lack of numbers this year, we had to cancel the Alumni Christmas lunch. It was definitely a time where people were still unsure about venturing out so we hope that the outdoor summer events will be better timed. Details of the EGS Golf Day on 20th May, the Alumni v Staff Cricket match and tea on 12th June and the Summer Ball on 2nd July can all be found in the events section of this newsletter. Its time to get the community back together again!
This year we have added some more content to our digital archive which can be accessed through the EGS website here. The boarders diaries of 1955, 1976 and 1982 are an insight into life at Edge Grove in those decades for our boarding community. Maybe you can see your entry documented in one of these if you were here at that time. They are an amusing read. Access to the website requires a log in which you can request again if you have forgotten it.
Enjoy catching up on the updates from our Alumni and I hope to see you at one of the summer events.
Best wishes
Sue Maughan Development & Alumni Manager
